We have no roof on our garage today! The roofers came yesterday to start replacing the roof on our house, which has been under a tarp since water started coming through the light fixture in the foyer. So much for the twelve more years the previous owner had mentioned. Today they decided that all the plywood sheeting over the garage had to be replaced. So now I know how fabulously sunny our garage would be if we had one big skylight. Thank goodness it’s a nice sunny day, since no roof would have been an issue yesterday with the snow and rain we were experiencing. It’s very messy and loud over here! Bang, BANG, bang!!

Weekend Wrap Up: Valentine’s Day
4
13.2.11
There are certain things that make Saturday mornings complete around here. Pancakes (gluten free, of course), PJ’s, coffee for him, a latte for me, my fuzzy socks, and family adventures. Saturday is our day to just be together, with nothing scheduled other than an adventure of some sort. This weekend the pancakes were heart-shaped, using the Norpro heart egg/pancake ring. Since the handle swivels, I can use it as a decoration after the pancakes are made, lol. Okay, maybe not. But they did remind me of these cute photo clips I saw here.
Today’s adventure involved swimming and making Valentine’s. And, of course, what romantic Valentine’s weekend would be complete without a group date night of go karting! (that was sarcasm, in case that’s not your language : ) But seriously, it was great! So fast it was freaky, but so much fun! Hope you’re enjoying your weekend too!
Kicking it Karate Style
2
10.2.11
My sweet 6 year old just got his gi (karate uniform) after a couple weeks of proving to us that he really wanted to stay with the karate class that he chose. We took him to try out a couple of different martial arts classes at various places to see what he liked, and he chose the class that was “more challenging”. The fact that he’s choosing the challenging option makes me very happy! He is SO excited and proud of his uniform. He slept in it last night, and he brought it to school for show and tell today. It’s amazing how much he’s learned and improved in just a couple of weeks!
As you can see in the background, Jason was cooking dinner when we got home from all the running around. Scrambled eggs – dinner of champions. : )
(Had to make it black and white, because of course the picture with the best expression on his face was the one where I forgot to turn off the flash.)
Weekend Wrap Up: He’s 4!

31.1.11
We’re winding down from a beautiful weekend filled with trains. Our sweet little boy turned four this weekend, (I still can’t believe it!!) and he requested a Thomas themed party. What a great third year this has been for him – a year without gluten! Who would have guessed that it could have made such a huge difference to our whole family. Now, if we could just slow this train down for a little while and enjoy every second of this sweetness?
Happy New Year!

03.1.11
This New Year’s was the first time that we’ve made it to midnight in six years! Sad, I know, but children have brought out the love of sleep in us. Ringing in the New Year disco style with my hubby and new friends from the neighborhood was such a great change! Thanks for such a great party Lori & Matt!
I hope that you all had a great time ringing in the New Year. Welcome 2011! Thanks for all your comments on my blog so far! You’re all great!!
(Disclaimer: This post is a day past due because I had to talk Jason, I mean Austin Powers, into letting me post it. Thanks hon, you’re a trooper.)
Wishing You A Merry Christmas!
2
25.12.10
Well, I ran out of Christmas cards this year, due to guessing how many I would need… and obviously underestimating. Next year I’ll be putting together a formal list to avoid this predicament, because obviously my memory and estimating skills are not going to cut it. This is what the family version of our Christmas card looked like this year. So to everyone who comes by and reads my blog, I wish you all a very Merry Christmas. I hope that you have a wonderful time, wherever you are, with your friends and family.
Sharing the Joy

20.12.10
The theme of the Christmas cards that we sent out this year was joy, and it looks like there’s a lot of it going around at this time of year. I just had to share these images with you of the beautiful cookies that a former coworker and friend of mine will be giving out this year. Thanks for sharing Cindy!
How are you sharing your joy this season?
Bathroom Reno: Before & After

30.11.10
This is what our powder room looked like on move in day. I know! Not pretty. It looked more like an industrial scrub down room than the powder room for visitors to our home. It’s probably best that the pictures are blurry! haha! Not to mention that it also had a suspended panel ceiling – ugh. I sold the old vanity in the above pictures on Craigslist – it was just too large for such a small space. Then I put that money towards buying a freestanding antique console table (with a nod to Sarah Richardson) to make the space feel larger. And for those wood freaks out there, I apologize in advance if this offends, but gray paint won over wood grain this time around.
And this is how it looks now:
All she needs is the perfect pull or knob for the front and the bathroom will be done! At last! And thanks to the hard working hubby for installing the trim, which I’ve wanted since seeing this post. Makes me smile!

Sledding on Burnaby Mountain
1
28.11.10
We went sledding with the boys on Burnaby Mountain recently. To say that it’s a popular spot for sledding is an understatement. For us, it was a location decided on primarily because it’s about fifteen minutes from home, which worked in our favor when the littlest member of our family decided that he just did not want to sled. Too many people, way too steep. Looking back, I suppose we should have started him off with something a little less steep… but just look at that view.
Have a great weekend everyone!
