Thanks to Pinterest, I found this great idea for bat o’lanterns, made from mini pumpkins, of course! I adore them! The contrast of the black against all the orange of Halloween is perfect! And, if you’re looking for some cheap paint for your crafty projects, run to Home Depot right now. All the Martha Stewart test pots are on sale for 25 cents, and you can tint them to whatever color you want! I was there today, and picked up the black for this project. Yes, also 25 cents! (The paint line has been discontinued… so get them while you can!)

Fall has finally arrived here in Vancouver, so I’ll be spending part of the weekend making pasta sauce from all my Roma tomatoes. I’ll also be heading to the local garden store to pick up some winter vegetables to plant! Yes, I’m on the bandwagon now people! Any suggestions? I know leeks are on my list!
I hope you have a great weekend!
I fell in love with this sofa last weekend when I was at Inform‘s booth on opening night at IDSwest. It is the Bensen Morgan sofa, and it is so comfortable – I think we could have a wonderful relationship. But I’ll be honest, I have no idea how much it costs, and I’m kind of afraid to find out. You see, the reality is that I have two little guys with frequently dirty hands… so slipcovers might be a better fit for our current reality. Maybe.
I had the chance to tour the Bensen Factory early this summer when I went to the preview for IDSwest, but I realize now that I never posted any pictures of it! So here you go! It was so clean, organized, and spacious. Let’s hear it for furniture made right here in Vancouver!
Now I’m curious… Do you buy the furniture pieces you love, even if your kids or pets may ruin them? If so, what is your super secret stain remover? Or do you have one of “those” living rooms that no one is allowed to enter? No judgement. Haha, now I’m really curious, so do tell!
We’re in the middle of a fabulous sunny long weekend here in Vancouver. Our first Thanksgiving dinner was last night, and there’s another one tonight! So, since I’m still busy enjoying this weekend, I thought in the meantime I’d share some excitement from last weekend!
The St. Regis Hotel was the location for our annual Canadian Design & Lifestyle Bloggers West event this year, Blend 2012. If you don’t remember my post about the event last year, it is basically an amazing party full of inspiring bloggers from all across the west coast of Canada. I was able to chat with special guests Mark Challen and Suzanne Dimma (Canadian House & Home), and was thrilled that Tommy Smythe was able to join us this year! A huge shout out to the amazing chef who made the night complete when he told me that 80% of the spread was gluten free, and brought me chocolate cake that I could eat! And, of course, a very special thank you to IKEA for sponsoring our event once again!!
I went shopping with Kerry last weekend and fell in love with the Fall decor inside the stores! I was excited to come home and start decorating our home! I like to keep it simple, and stick to natural elements, and at this time of year that is easy! The ornamental squash, paired with berries from my parents yard, look great placed in my new two toned IKEA bowl.
I couldn’t resist picking up these berry branches from my local grocery store for our dining room table. But, I’m not sure what these branches are called, so if you know please do share!
We are celebrating a long Thanksgiving weekend here in Canada, so I’ve prettied it up just in time! We’re heading out to buy some pumpkins, having a hotdog roast with friends, and attending multiple turkey dinners this weekend! Should be a good one! I hope yours is too! What have you got in store?

I was so excited to attend the Grand Opening for my friend’s new store in Abbotsford on Friday night. Spruce Collective is the bricks + mortar collaboration between Elisa of Home Sweet Nest, Jessica of Trove Vintage Rentals & Handmade Affairs, Kevi of Twig Home, Monica of Red Wicker and Lily of Birch + Bird. A huge congratulations to all of you on a fabulous job!
Lily and I met almost two years ago, when we were both pretty new to blogging, and it has been great getting to know her better! It’s been fabulous to witness the success of her blog, and now this beautiful store! I love it when genuinely nice, talented people succeed!
How cool is the little nook for the kids! They know what makes moms happy!
The store is filled with beautiful vignettes, and all sorts of treasures, not to mention a big room at the back for classes! You can see more pics on their site, or better yet, stop by and see it for yourself!
