Friday Thoughts

Happy Friday! Enjoy the ones you’re with this weekend. And the little moments that can become so much bigger when you let them. Did I mention that I have started a photography “class” with the boys? I’ve been told I’m the teacher. I’ll tell you more about that later… it’s pretty fun.

Rachel Barkman Photography

I thought I’d share a design project that I worked on recently for photographer Rachel Barkman. Rachel is such a talented lady! You might remember the post I did about the photo shoot she did for us? She recently got married and needed some business cards designed with a new look for her new name. I thought it would be fun if she had multiple cards showcasing the variety of her work, and then could give her clients a business card tailored to their needs!

Check out more of her new look over on her site! And enter to win a photo shoot while you’re there! Or, if you’re interested in graphic design services you can see more of my work at Rosa Pearson Design.

Happy Friday & Wedding Pics

I thought I’d leave you with a picture I took of my sister’s gorgeous wedding bouquet. It’s hard to believe that it was almost a month ago that she got married! And I can’t believe she’ll be moving away in less than a week!

These sweet shots of my beautiful sister Louisa and her husband Steve are from photographer Linda McCague. You can see more here.

Have a great weekend! I’m sure there are many happy brides this weekend with the weather we’ve been having!

Family Time

We had a family photo shoot last night with the lovely and talented Rachel of Rachel Ray Photography! I thought I’d share a few! I love how she’s captured us laughing, since we do a lot of that! I feel so incredibly blessed to have these guys in my life. If you’re curious, Rachel has posted a bunch on her blog.

I’m heading to this little guy’s preschool graduation today! (Oh no! Possible change of plans – he just woke up with a fever!!)

I’m going to go play nursemaid now, so I’ll leave you with a few of my favorite posts from around the web lately:

  1. Lisa’s post about this clever jewellery you can design with Meshu.
  2. I laughed hard at Sara’s second confession this week!
  3. I missed the contest, but love this book idea!

Have a great weekend!

Pumpkin & Apple Spice Muffins

Sorry for the silence around here last week! Between the teachers strike and sick children I found myself very busy… and then I ended up in the ER, and well, there was not much energy left after that. All is well now, and Spring Break is here… so, there will be some pajama days in the future!

  • 1 2/3 cups gluten free all purpose flour
  • 3/4 teaspoon xanthun gum
  • 2 tablespoon ground flax seeds
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon pumpkin pie spice**
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup canned pumpkin
  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine, melted
  • 2 large eggs, lightly beaten
  • 1 apple, peeled and finely chopped

  • 1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice**
  • 3 tablespoons sugar

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Combine first 8 ingredients in a large bowl; make a well in center of mixture. Combine pumpkin, butter, and eggs in another bowl and add to dry ingredients, stirring just until moistened. Fold in chopped apple and spoon into greased muffin pans, filling two-thirds full.
  3. Combine 3 tablespoons of sugar and 1 teaspoon of pumpkin pie spice; sprinkle evenly over muffins.
  4. Bake for 20 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from pans immediately, and cool on wire racks.

**Tip: No pumpkin pie spice? Substitute the following: 1/2 tsp cinnamon, 1/4 tsp ginger, 1/8 tsp nutmeg & 1/8 tsp cloves. Mix together for the equivalent of 1 tablespoon pumpkin pie spice.

Happy Friday!

If you should find yourself in Beverly Hills over Spring Break, Sprinkles Cupcakes has opened 24-Hour Sprinkles, a cupcake ATM. I can’t get over how perfect it is that a smiling face should be serving up cupcakes, even if only a machine! You see the face too, don’t you? I always do appreciate a good hidden face.

Happy Friday!! Hope this post finds you wearing a smile too!

Flutter Flutter Find: Daiso

I took a field trip out to Richmond last week to visit Daiso with my friend Andi, and just have to share my finds with you! What a treat to find these tiny retro-inspired clips. They are going to make my piles of papers so much more organized, and pretty! (That’s the plan anyway. Ha!) And this beautiful little yellow bowl holds them all perfectly! Although it would also be perfect for paper clips, or jewellery, or…

Have you been before? What’s your favorite section? For those that have never been, let me know if you go, I’d love to hear what treasures you find!

I hope you had a great weekend. Happy Monday!

Warm Weekend Wishes

It’s been a week full of sick kids, more missed school, and a trip to the ER. Things have been moving at a fairly slow pace. We have parties this weekend that we may not be able to make, and concerts that our kids are probably too sick to take part in, but I know that all that stuff doesn’t really matter in the long run. Our kids are happy to have us here taking care of them, and there has been that much more reading, game playing, and together time, which is never really a bad thing.

I am REALLY behind with Christmas shopping, since I’ve barely left the house, but I’ve had plenty of moments for Christmas-time shots around the house!

Wishing you a wonderful, warm and cozy weekend!

PS – Notice the book at the bottom of the stack? That is the very cool Chicago Spaces: Inspiring Interiors, that I won over at Birch & Bird! Thanks again Rachel & Lily! And the beautiful green box atop that stack contains my favorite scent from The Natural Eclectic candle collection by Heather Ross. Heavenly!

Somebody’s Watching Me

These faces have been staring at me in the shower for three years now. A little spooky, no?! I don’t know what’s worse, that, or the hideous tile behind those eyes! Welcome to my upstairs bathrooms. Aren’t you glad you popped over today?! Yes, anyone who’s commented about how my house must be perfect… eat your heart out on this little slice of the 70’s. I know you’re jealous.

I think these boys need to be put out to pasture. I no longer want to shower with my little friends. They’ve got to go. Time to start planning “Operation Bathroom Renovation”!

How about you? Any vintage lovelies overstaying their welcome at your house? Please tell me I’m not alone in wanting to bomb my bathrooms?

If you could use some lighting, then don’t forget to enter the $75 Arcadian Lighting Giveaway by this Friday!

Office Organization: Part One

I have been cleaning up and organizing my tiny office since I painted, and thought it was about time for a close up! I found the yellow ampersand in HomeSense last week, and knew it was coming home with me! The vintage turquoise lamp, and the wooden stamps are all from SpaceLab on Main.

I hope you’re having a good week so far! Thanks for all the lovely comments yesterday. They made my day!!
