Dreaming of Chinoiserie: Guest Post & Giveaway by Arcadian Lighting

Hi there! I’m Joanna, a writer for Arcadian Lighting, the online go-to source for all things lighting. I love interior design, architecture and art. I spend my days finding the loveliest designs on the web and then sharing them through guest posts like this one about decorating with the charming look of chinoiserie for FlutterFlutter.
Dating back to 17th century Europe, chinoiserie made a comeback in the 20th century and is still going strong to this day. Whether it is a bold print on the bed or a Chinese-esque light fixture, a modern interpretation of classic chinoiserie can be found in the rooms below. Thanks for letting me share!
A simplistic, nature-based room gets a touch of chinoiserie with a bird motif on the bed. A retro light fixture adds interest.
This boldly-hued room boasts several examples of chinoiserie. A classic wingback comes alive with an Asian-inspired print.
Chinoiserie fabric panels give a sophisticated feel to this living space. A pair of table lamps add to the ambience of the room.
A beautiful powder room comes alive with a chinoiserie print on the walls that spills over onto a petit bench.
A single chinoiserie print pillow sets the mood for this Asian-inspired living room. Paper lanterns and a vase of cherry blossoms complete the look.
An accent wall in an Asian-inspired print gives this kitchen a glamorous feel. The unique pendant light above the table finishes the look.
A chinoiserie duvet gives this industrial space a classic feel. The trunk and suitcase at the end of the bed give the space a well-traveled look.

Lovely post Joanna! Crazy about chinoiserie
Because we’re renovating our basement, I have lots of lighting needs! What comes to mind first is the need for bedside lamps in our guest bedroom. I also want a floor lamp of some kind for the family room. Oh… and a desk lamp for my office! These rooms are currently framing with some drywall, but soon they’ll be sporting new decor!!

We despatately need lighting for over a pool table in a west coast inspired basement Reno we are working on. Oh and a vanity light for a bathroom. Can I go on? We have a hideous kitchen table light that needs to be replaced- it’s actually a huge fan/light!

I knocked my diy dining room chandy down last week, it sparked and hissed at me. It appeared that only one bulb was broke, so I replaced it, plugged it back in and “BAM”, blew the entire circuit
Needless to say, I can sure use a new chandelier for the dining room.
