BEST. DAY. EVER.

10

24.6.11

Okay, it’s not really the best day ever, it’s just something my youngest says occasionally which we’ve happily adopted and now inject into everyday conversations, like BEST. COFFEE. EVER., etc. You get the picture. Of course, in four year old speak it sounds more like BEST. DAY. EV-AH! which really makes me want to squeeze him I find it so cute.

So, since it’s that time of year when we thank the amazing teachers who managed to survive another year of our children without taking stress leave, I thought that I would make a simple typographic card along those same lines. And so BEST. TEACHER. EVER. this one’s for you!

More Colors on Etsy

06.6.11

I’ve had lots of interest over at Etsy from people wanting more pics of the other colors of JuJu Hats… so I’ve taken some more pictures. You can now see the purple, white, and pink options on my Etsy site, as well as the three available sizes. This is the large white juju hanging out on my new entryway mat. I picked it up at Costco on this wonderfully warm and sunny Sunday.

I hope you’ve had a fabulous weekend!

Chair & Pillow Fabric for the Master

02.6.11

So, I know that you may have forgotten that I’m working slowly away at finishing our master bedroom… it has been a while since I’ve talked about it! I’m happy to say that I have made some headway! I found this cute grey and white chair at Homesense, along with the throw with the ruffled edges, but I wanted a pillow to add some interest. So, today I went fabric scouting in Gastown, at the stores that are only open to the trade, and came home happy! The fabric laying on the seat is one of the samples I picked up today… it’s a Thomaspaul fabric.

The mauve pillow in this photo sits on our bed amongst all the grey. It was the jumping off point for our master bedroom. I’m adding some of my Faux Juju Hats in a variety of colors and sizes on the wall above the chair to add some more colour and texture to the room. I like how the shape of the pillow will be mimicked on the wall. Once I get them hung I will do a reveal of that corner of the master bedroom… one step at a time right? : )

For those of you that don’t want to make one yourself you can now also buy my Faux JuJu Hats on my Etsy site!

Birthday Wish List 2011

16.5.11

These are some of the pretty, and useful, things that I’m dreaming about…

This KitchenAid Stand Mixer, Martha Stewart Blue Collection Artisan 5 Qt. Aqua Sky (shown) or Ice Blue. Can’t decide from online pics which color would look best sitting on the kitchen counter!

These gorgeous ceramic wall tiles from Etsy seller Element Clay Studio blew me away when I saw them on Andrea’s blog. The details are amazing! I would happily fill my house with her work!!

And last but not least, this camera would be oh so much fun!! I’ve been using a Canon G9 for years now, but I want to move up to an SLR, and take a photography class too!

Those are my top 3! How about you? What’s top on your wish list right now?

Etsy Find: Ono Designs Maui

16.3.11

Before we left for our holiday to Maui, I did my research on gluten-free friendly places to eat, and treat! One of the hot spots on my radar was Ono Gelato. Turns out that they make the best gelato ever! While we sat and indulged in the gelato and air conditioning, some other items caught my eye. Aprons and bags in beautiful colors and designs were tempting me from the back wall. I was told that the owner (originally from Victoria) makes all of them and sells them on her Etsy store, Ono Designs Maui! I bought the turquoise sling bag that was calling my name, and I’m hoping that the warm, cheery pattern will bring a little spring to the Westcoast here very soon!

Type Tuesday: Paper Cutting

Kate Forrester‘s work first caught my eye with her Christmas campaign for John Lewis, but more recently I’m loving her screen printed “My Home is Nowhere Without You” poster design. Check out her blog for more of her amazing talent.

Julene Harrison is another paper artist I adore who’s work was recently featured in Computer Arts Projects magazine! What a great gift idea for a first wedding anniversary – made with paper! Wish I’d thought of that oh so many years ago!! There are so many more of her wonderful designs to see on her blog, Made by Julene!

I happily discovered graphic designer Helen Foers’ beautiful paper cut cards recently on her Etsy shop Storeyshop. Love the simple, bold designs. And she’s got a blog too!

A big thanks to all these super friendly ladies for allowing me to share their talents! What do you think? Does it inspire you to get out an x-acto knife? I think I just may…

I’m liking this piece by Etsy seller May Day Studio. It’s fitting with all the grey Vancouver weather we’re having here. I hope the skies are sunnier where you are… maybe send some our way if you can!

In the meantime, here are some links to brighten your day:

- Loving the branch chandelier in these Mountain Style pics.

- For those of you with kids, this Lego stop motion video will entertain.

Owl Be Home For Christmas

A cheesy title, I know, but I couldn’t resist. When I saw this laptop sleeve by Quebec based BoutiqueID on Etsy the other day I fell in love! The design is perfection!! And they come in all shapes and sizes for holding your phone, Kindle, iPad, etc. Now if only they made one big enough for my 17″ MacBook Pro! Maybe I can talk them into working that into their 2011 lineup?!
