I don’t know about you, but this time of year just seems so busy! The boys only have 12 more days of school left! Thankfully, our five days a week of baseball will be ending soon too! Bring on summer!

I designed two cards to give to the teachers in our life, and thought I’d share them as a printable in my Etsy shop for those of you have yet to pick up a card. I incorporated a talking worm into the age-old “apple for the teacher” idea to give it a new twist. I think this Worm Ampersand Animal might be having an affect on me, because I’m loving worms these days!

I added a couple new Ampersand Animal prints to the Etsy shop this week, so I thought I’d share. I am having so much fun bringing these creatures to life! I don’t usually have a thing for worms, but this little mom and baby worm may have swayed me. You know how popular birds have been over the past few years… well, birds LOVE worms, so maybe worms are the next big thing. You heard it here first!

Tonight Jason and I are off, with 20,000 of our closest friends, to see the sold out Mumford & Sons concert! It’s an outdoor concert, so I am beyond relieved that the forecast doesn’t call for rain! I’ll leave you with one of my favorites of theirs to enjoy!

My Mother’s Day present arrived a little late this year, but it was worth the wait! I’ve never put in a request for a Mother’s Day gift before, until this year… there’s a first time for everything, right?

I fell in love with the little white cross pattern on the Genet scarf, named after this inspiring woman. The scarf was designed by Janette Crawford, and produced by ONE and fashionABLE to improve the lives of women and children in Ethiopia by helping to create sustainable business in Africa. I was scrolling through on Instagram today and a picture that Ez took caught my eye. It was of a beautiful tea towel from Paloma’s Nest with the words “Be glad for this moment” printed on it. Similar to the saying “Be happy for this moment. For this moment is your life.” which you may have heard before. Glad resonates with me more than happy for some reason, and those words perfectly describe how I felt when I took this picture on the beach in Carlsbad, CA a couple months ago. We sat on this beach every night so the boys could run in the waves as the sun set. Our favorite kind of holiday!

But, since we aren’t going on holidays again anytime soon, I need to remember that it’s not just those moments that I need to be glad for. They are the easy ones to enjoy. It’s the everyday, mundane, and sometimes trying moments that I need to remember to be glad about. Because those are precious too. “Relax into the joy of life” as Brené Brown would say. I’m going to print out this poster and pin it up in my office to remind me.

I hope the week is treating you well so far, with many happy moments!

On a side note… I ordered a Starbucks mocha every day while we were on holidays and they were unbelievably good! I have yet to taste one that even comes close here in Vancouver! Does anyone know if the water changes the flavor? If so, I may start getting water shipped up from California to my local Starbucks. Tell me I’m not the only one that has noticed this…

I hope you enjoyed a beautiful weekend! The rain is back here in Vancouver, and I have to admit that I’m kind of glad to see it! You see, it means I get a bit of a break from driving to baseball games and practices every night! I’ve got a busy week ahead with work, so a little less juggling will make the evenings easier. And, I’ve been invited to tour West Elm’s new Summer Collection on Wednesday, so I might share some of my favorites with you later in the week.

I also wanted to let you know that there are now more Ampersand Animals running wild in the shop! They have been really fun to work on. I have lots still to list, so keep watch if you’re waiting for your favorite animal to appear. Or better yet, let me know if you have a fave animal and maybe I’ll work on that next! Which one is your favorite so far?

I am a huge fan of Jessica Helgerson, the interior designer of this beautiful home. Our family room has the same cathedral ceilings, and this picture is one of the many that makes me want to run wild and paint our cedar ceilings white. It’s also the reason I started hunting for a demijohn vase like the two on the floor. I’m happy to say that I found one when Heather and I went shopping at Spruce Collective! Now if only I had a tree that could spare a limb…

In other exciting news, in between my boys’ baseball games the much ignored mudroom has finally been getting some attention! I spent some time on Saturday sewing a seat cushion for this bench. I feel like my mom when I’m sewing. All of my latent skills come from her. I’m not finished yet, but it is looking SO good! Can’t wait to have some finished pictures for you!

And no, the door isn’t dirty, it’d just been painted here and the plastic hadn’t been removed from the glass yet. I adore the new door too, by the way. Our mudroom/laundry room is off of the garage and has no windows, so the glass has made such a difference in the amount of light in the room!

It’s raining here in Vancouver, so I’m making soup! This is my favorite soup recipe, a staple around our house, and thankfully I am not the only one who loves it. The boys cheer when I make it. Seriously, cheering! I adore happy eaters.

I let the kids play with food again to make the funny faces. My hope is that by showing them the ingredients that go into their food they’ll become more aware when making food choices in the future… and maybe even enjoy cooking!

Have you made a list of all the projects that you want to tackle this Spring/Summer? With all the sunshine that we had over Spring Break, we’ve actually started to check some things off of our LONG list already! The adirondack chairs that were sitting in boxes for two years waiting to be stained and assembled… CHECK! Emptying out and organizing our pantry… CHECK! Gardening… well, we’re slowly making headway each year on that front. There is so much still to learn!

Are you as impressed as I am with how my friend Angela organized all of her kids art supplies! She simply spray painted some tin cans in fresh Spring colours and divided up the supplies! And four large baskets underneath store the paper and all of their creations! Perfect!

A project that has forever been on the list is printing the bazillion photos that are hanging out in the ether. You too? I don’t know many people that aren’t a couple years behind on that one! Christine, of Just Bella, had a great idea to take all of her Instagram pictures and create a Blurb Photo Book, and I knew I’d be making one as soon as I saw it. If you’ve been wanting to make a book, I’ve got good news… Blurb is offering 25% off to you until April 14th! Sometimes it helps to have a deadline on things like this, right?!

Speaking of deadlines… I need to focus on the big ticket items on our list… adding trim and replacing all the windows, and painting the exterior of the house. Any readers have a window company that they would recommend? Or brand of windows that you’re happy with? There are so many options out there that I’ve put off making a decision for a couple of years already! I need to get on it! Suggestions please!

I thought I’d start the week off with some exciting news! (exciting for me at least!) I was invited to attend a party in this beautiful backyard last year, and the party has made its way into this months (May issue) of Style at Home Magazine! I didn’t want to say anything until I had a copy of the magazine in my hands and saw it for myself, and now that I have I thought I’d share some behind the scenes pictures of the night that you won’t see in the magazine… so here goes!

I’ve been to many parties since starting my blog, between media events and blogger meet ups, but this one will forever be a highlight. My friend Tracey Ayton is the amazing photographer behind all the photos for the article, and she also happens to be the owner of this lovely home! Our friend, and talented interior designer, Karla Amadatsu styled the backyard for the event and cooked up an amazing meal for all of us to enjoy. It was a beautiful evening, thanks to all their hard work, and I am so happy that I was able to be a part of it. I couldn’t resist taking some pictures on the sly with my iPhone at the end of the evening just to capture the moment.

You can see Danielle, Karla, Victoria, Stephanie and Andrea in the pictures above, but also at the event were Barbara, Lily, Sheila, Carol, Colleen, Sari, Amanda, Michelle, and Nancy. An amazing group of talented women, that I’m happy to call friends.

Well, it’s been a busy week for media events, with two store openings back to back! On Wednesday night I was invited to take a peek at the new Bouclair Home store in Coquitlam, and I couldn’t resist sharing some of the goodies that followed me home. The store was full of pillows, curtains, baskets, etc, but it was the little things that caught my eye that night.

I found this small ceramic bird in the kids section, but I personally think he’s more of an all ages kind of bird. I love him. And really, with a blog named Flutter Flutter, how could I not? No, the Tivoli radio was not from Bouclair… but it will be his new perch. I guess that makes him a bit of a song bird? The other ceramic piece is perfect for serving crackers or a baguette at the next family dinner. I think the little handle holes are great!

I was really excited to see the slate serving tray in a variety of shapes and sizes. I’ve been keeping my eye out for one since I first saw them used by a food stylist as a backdrop in a photo shoot. Food looks really pretty on them, as do ceramic birds! Down the aisle were these slate coasters, and I plan on filling up that empty wine glass sitting atop them tonight! Jason has been away on business all week, and he’s flying back into town today! Happy Friday indeed! Bring on the weekend! I can already smell those Saturday morning pancakes…
