Yesterday I attended the pre-opening event for West Elm‘s Vancouver location! I had the pleasure of meeting creative director Vanessa Holden in the afternoon as she toured us through the new store. And in the evening there was a fabulous party!
It’ll be great to have a West Elm of our own in Vancouver. No more shipping or three hour car rides to Seattle! (Who am I kidding, I’ll still be visiting Seattle.) Here is a sneak peak to whet your appetite…
West Elm offers a great resource with their Design Lab. Staff will be there to answer decorating questions, and offer help or referrals at any stage of the game. Perfect for us indecisive types!!
And did you know that West Elm is now partnering with Etsy? You can find the work of local Etsy artists such as Dahlhaus Studio Ceramics, Walter Helena Photography, and others for sale at the Vancouver location.
More good news, the store opens today! Located at 2947 Granville Street.

I had the pleasure of spending a couple of hours with other media people at Indigo’s Fall Holiday Preview at the Cactus Club Cafe today. Would you like a sneak peak at what’s to come? Well, here you go!
Someone did an amazing job styling all the beautiful items on display! I’d love it if they’d come hang out at my house and work their magic. 😉
And guest of honor, Chef Feenie, he kept us nibbling on his wonderful creations as we wandered around. He was kind enough to pose for a picture with his new cookbook, Rob Feenie’s Casual Classics, Everyday Recipes for Family and Friends. I’m looking forward to making his Leek, Tomato and Garlic soup!
It feels good to blog about the upcoming holiday season in the middle of a heat wave… somehow I feel a little bit cooler now. 😉
PS – If you follow me on Twitter you’ve already seen my other #IndigoFaves!

I recently attended a design event at Inform for the 2012 Interior Design Show West (IDSwest) preview. No, HGTV personality Tommy Smythe wasn’t there, but he will be upping the style ante at IDSwest so I thought that I’d lead with that exciting news for all you Tommy fans! Here is a sneak peak of the party, and the show! Maybe he’ll attend Blend this year?
The Bocci Pop Up Bar, 100 Mile House & The DJ Trike. How cool is that!?

New this year, the One of a Kind District will provide an opportunity for you to take original designs home with you! Sixty handcraft designers will offer a range of design-forward products. With tunes from Beats and Bikes and incredible shopping, you will leave the show with a smile on your face.

IDSwest highlights cutting-edge furniture, art, architecture, lighting and design from September 27th to September 30th, 2012 at the Vancouver Convention Centre West.
How about you? Have you been to IDSwest before?

I was thrilled to attend to the media night preview for IDSwest tonight! There was so much inspiring design on display, such as Judson Beaumont’s Hollow Chair, Sarah Peloquin Ladany’s Geodesic-Wares, and Tom Dixon’s Etch Lights, to name a few.
The highlight of the night for me was the L41 Ultra Compact Home by Michael Katz Architecture. This ultra-compact home is affordable, sustainable, high quality, high-design and energy efficient! So much in such a small space!

Where you would usually see a back splash, the sleek windows let in light.

Barbara of hodge:podge and I carpooled to the event, so there was plenty of design and blog talk going on, along with some wine and yummy tacos! A great night in my opinion!
If I’ve peaked your curiosity, you should really check out IDSwest in September! It will be at the New Vancouver Convention Centre September 29th – October 2nd. I know I’ll be there!
