We are having a nice run of warm weather here in Vancouver lately, and our fans have come in handy at nighttime. I even took this Sea-breeze off the shelf to do more than just look pretty! Don’t you just love vintage fans! But, I do wonder about the old wiring. Do you need to replace wiring if it still works? It seems that Sarah Richardson has every vintage light that she touches rewired, and I’m wondering if there is some unwritten rule about electrical expiration dates? Are there any electricians reading this? Any interior designers with a source for rewiring? I’d love to know!

Gorgeous!!!
I would love to know the answer to this too! I am a big Sarah Richardson fan and would love to have access to all of her work people. She is always making the vintage stuff gorgeous.
I’d like to know too – I have three fans kicking around that I am afraid to actually use!
Haha! I know! This one NEVER gets left on for long.
All I can say is definitely have it rewired
I love them too, but the vintage ones can be a bit dodgy. Love yours – it’s adorable!
Thanks Janis, I’m definitely going to get it rewired… just need to hunt down the proper person!
Get it rewired !!!! You never know about those things. Hopefully the motor won’t burn out either. If you smell something sizzling,…….. Kidding kidding! Rewire it and make sure to get it checked out. Then you have a peace of mind and a nice cool breeze.
Haha Tracey…
I was already thinking it.
Cool Fan – in more ways than one!
I LOVE your fan!!! Vintage, to die for colour, and oh, so much character!
I’m with Tracey, I’d go the extra mile and get it rewired. That way you can rest easy. Even with the modern fans and their up-to-date wiring, I’m still leery about safety, especially when they’re working hard to combat our very welcome heatwave!
Hi Rosa,
Most good lighting stores will either be able to rewire your fan for you – as they do this to lamps all the time – or, they can refer you to someone who does rewiring.
Happy Fanning!
