There is a party going on, and I thought you might like to know! After 35 years in Richmond, IKEA is celebrating the opening of a brand new store today! If you’re the lucky first-in-line you’ll be holding a $10,000 gift card!! And the first 1,000 fans after that will receive mystery envelopes!
I got to check out their inspiring new store at their media cocktail party, and also had some fun with my blogging friends. The new store is 334,000 sq.ft. so my recommendation is to wear comfortable shoes. I know I’ll be wearing runners next time! My feet still hate me. But don’t worry, if your feet get tired there are plenty of places to have a seat…
oh wait, wrong picture, hee hee. There may have been some crazy shenanigans that night… but I won’t name names.
Maybe if you need to take a break you’d be better off sitting here…
You may see me there if you’re heading down, since I won a $100 IKEA gift card over at hodge:podge last week and plan on heading back to spend it! Thank you Barbara!! And a big thanks to IKEA!
WHERE: 3320 Jacombs Road, Richmond
WHEN: April 25th, 2012. Opening Ceremonies begin at 8:20am.
Doors open at 9:00am.

I am so jealous! The closest one to Nashville is 4 hrs. away in Atlanta
Enjoy shopping for me!
Four hours is a LONG way to go to hit up an IKEA!! Yikes! I’ll enjoy this one for you.
Eek….you’re so lucky! I can’t wait for Ikea’s arrival in Winnipeg this fall!
Cocktails at an IKEA store- sounds like a fun night out!
It was! Shopping and cocktails is a dangerous mix though, lol.
Great pictures Rosa!…You guys have all the fun! Yowzers on the store size…how awesome!
Thanks for sharing!
So much fun!!! It was nice to hang with you that night! My feet hurt but the lure of shopping kept me going.
Fabulous time with you too Tracey, as always! I could barely walk by the time I left… and then I couldn’t find my car!!!
My feet still hate me too but it was fun to see the new store and you! Hope to see you soon
Always enjoy chatting with you Lily! I think I’ll wrap my feet in gauze before I wear those shoes next time!!
Great night Rosa, That’ll be the first and only time I walk through IKEA with a glass of wine – and have no lineups at the checkout. Great night!
I know Jil! I really should have made better use of the no lineups!!
Looks like so much fun! Love the pictures, especially the lambswool divers
Great music, drinking Prosecco and savoring Culinary Capers creations, meeting old and new friends, admiring the vast new place, discovering new attractive items… and coming home with a bag full of gifts. What can be more delightful? Lovely to see you all there!
how fun to get invited to a media event!
if you haven’t seen any of the 7 episode web-series “Ikea Heights” you have to check it out. It is hilarious! It was filmed on the sly inside of the Burbank, California Ikea.

Lovely to see everyone & take it all in. Indeed that is one massive IKEA! I wore sensible shoes, something I learned from having my own shop with concrete floors! I only bought one jar of dill mustard & did not myself take advantage of NO line ups or great discount either. Just goes to show even the pros can get overwhelmed with shopping choices. Once I get organized with getting myself organized I will return for those fabulous linen covered boxes. My only other regret is apparently while we were all inside that building, Vancouver experienced one of the most spectacular stormy sky sunsets ever!!!
Looks like fun!
Totally fun post, great to see you there!!
