Six years and two children ago we bought an Ikea Ektorp couch and chair. We knew that since we were going to have a baby that a slip covered sofa was the way to go. (Of course, red wine spills are a good reason too!) The furniture has been well used over the years, and the covers have been washed many, many times. After six years of pulling on and off those white slip covers, the fabric that covered the cushion filling was starting to tear. But life gets busy, and I didn’t think about it too much. While hunting through files searching for tax papers, I happened upon the receipt for the furniture, and a paper saying that they had a ten year warranty! I called Ikea to inquire about getting some new cushions… but they did much better than that!!! SIX YEARS later, Ikea gave me a BRAND NEW COUCH & CHAIR!! It’s official, I love Ikea.
Oh, and for the curious ones, this is our family room. I’ll show you more one day, I promise. ; ) It’s a work in progress…

WOW – that is amazing. I had a Brick sofa fall apart (and it continued to fall apart) while under warranty and the Brick told me to bugger off. Wish I’d bought from Ikea . . .

The crate came from a little junk store along Main Street! It was super cheap, and it’s great for so many things!!

It’s a stupendous customer service move on their part because most of us will bring home the sofa and immediately lose the receipt making the discussion null and void. Good for you for being a smartie!!
